Recap and commentary

Recap:

La Fama 3 – 2 Nacional

La Fama slight favorite in this match, but Nacional is always a tough competitor, aiming to get back to top 4 this season. La Fama the top 4 team from last year with bigger ambitions to reach the final this year. Albeit the Savaneta team had more ball possession in the first half, Nacional seem to be the more effective of the two in the first part of the match. Nacional went up right before halftime, goal by Marlison Hooi (’45+3). La Fama started the second half with more urgency and reaped the rewards for that effort, goal by Timothe Makanzu (’61, his 2nd goal in two matches). Jair Farro put La Fama in front not long after that (’69), but Nacional found a way and Devis Oliveros, their perennial goal-getter, returning back in the squad, scored the equalizer at 2-2 (’70). La Fama much better now and going all out, but still needed a wondergoal by Bass Vander Weij, from distance, to get away with all three points in an otherwise closer than expected match. In another note La Fama, despite starting 2-0 and earning all six points so far in the season, parted way with head-coach Jean-Luc Bergen the next day.

Bubali 1 – 3 RCA

A good match-up on paper and it didn’t differ much on the field, the score doesn’t indicate how close this match really was, Bubali was in the game until the 85th minute, no doubt. A messy game in many aspects, a tight contest for most of the game, yet a not so visible affair. Halftime went in with Bubali ahead via a Brayan Morales goal right before the whistle. Right at the start of the second half Jhon Silva came back alive and scored the equalizer for the “tricolores”, who were in all red in this match. The stalemate continued until after RCA was actually left with ten players due to their captain Nathan Loe-A-Njoe’s send off at minute 81. A few minutes later (’85) it was actually RCA through a goal by Jean Pierre Fingal that went up in the score 2-1. Jean-Luis Mckenley made it 3-1 in the 91st minute ending Bubali’s hope once and for all.
