River Plate 1 – 2 Britannia
A closer than expected result. Britannia had to fight until the last minutes of this match to get away with all three points. In all, the Pumas from Piedra Plat were still in control of the match despite missing some key players due to national squad duties in Barbados, they went up early in the match (’16), a goal by last year’s goal-getter of Division Honor, Fernando de Sousa. River Plate surprised with their equalizer at minute 36’s goal by John-Rick Kelly. Britannia had to wait until the wading minutes of the match to get the winning goal by Jaime Torres (’91). The champions kept pace with Dakota and La Fama with the same number of points but is now in second place because of goal difference which favors Dakota at this point. Britannia seem to play it low-key so far, as if they are timing everything, measuring and building up into the next rounds and hoping to win the treble this year.

Dakota 3 – 1 Nacional
This match between two powerhouses of the last decade, started on a very high pace but with many infractions as well, both squads with equal chances, Devis Oliveros (Nacional) even had a penalty kick stopped by Dakota’s GK Kendrick Dania. The pace of the match slowed down in the last part of the first half. Dakota went ahead by Woodeney Jean Baptiste’s goal at ’22, a quick drive into the box, a self-made goal. In the second half Nacional continue to try, Dakota started to give the ball away and the dragons of Alto Vista got their chance, a wonder goal from distance by Alejandro Mejia at ’60 for the 1-1. For the next minutes Nacional actually were the better team, had more clear chances but couldn’t take advantage. Dakota went up for good with a goal by Camilo Peña in the 66th minute, his 5th goal in three matches, an assist by Woodeney Jean Baptiste. it is Jean Baptiste himself that provided the final blow for Nacional with his second goal of the match to go with the assist, a self-created goal again at ’75 for the 3-1. Dakota put the game away in just 10 minutes after the game seemed very even at that point, with Nacional squandering a few more chances to go with the missed penalty earlier in the match.

Estrella 8 – 1 Real Koyari
This was a match of two teams without any points so far in the new season. Estrella was beaten by newcomers Sporting in their last match and that did not sit well with the club from Santa Cruz. Koyari was also seeking their first points and were hoping to get something out of this match. Estrella lined up with a totally offensive scheme with Trevor Faro actually playing in his natural position of central forward in the attacking front line. Estrella the better of the two, halftime went in with Estrella up by two goals, courtesy of Trevor Faro at ’22 and Jayden Mc Gregor at ’44. Estrella went into high gear in the second half with Trevor Faro scoring an additional four goals (’54, ’64, ’75 and ’84), together with another goal by Jayden Mc Gregor and Samuel Mayorga (’89). Real Koyari got a goal of honor in this onslaught at ’80 by Juan Puriel. Perennial Estrella Goal-getter Trevor Faro is back in a sensational fashion with 5 goals and is now leading the top scorer’s board together with Camilo Peña of Dakota. A good match as well by Jayden Mc Gregor. Estrella this way got their first points in the league.

Bubali SC 0 – 2 La Fama
Bubali has been playing good football under former La Fama boss Jaime Carasquilla so far in the new season, but they have no points to show for that. They were “in” the match both against Dakota and RCA, until late, but gave the result away in the last minutes of each match against the two power houses. In this match they were going against another top four team like La Fama. The club from Savaneta is unbeaten so far in two matches, yet they made a coaching change and now have Jomar Boekhoudt making his debut as the head coach for the team, Boekhoudt had a previous successful stint with ASV River Plate a few years back. A very balanced match between the two green teams. A tense and close affair went 0-0 into halftime, both teams with chances. The teams continue with the same rhythm in the second half. La Fama got a penalty at minute 50 where Timothe Makanzu put the ball in the net (his 3rd goal of the season) for the 1-0. Bubali fighting and working hard for the equalizer, but La Fama making the best of their chances and being very effective when it counted. Kenroy Ranger got in the game for La Fama and after just 3 minutes, after a mistake by Bubali’s defensive line, took advantage and placed the ball in the net for the 2-0 (’86) and yet another three points (3 wins in 3 matches) for the club from Savaneta which is now in third place even in points with Dakota and Britannia (9 points) but with a lower goal difference.
